Simplified Siri for iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak

 

Since the “Rocky Raccoon” untether was released yesterday along with Absinthe 2.0, the Spite and Spire tweaks caused your device not to boot at all.  This caused a lot of confusion because these extensions did work on the tethered 5.1.1 jailbreak.  We then made a tutorial on how to get Siri working on iOS 5.1.1 untethered but there was a lot of confusion going on so we decided to make this even simpler and easy to do. The video below will explain everything.

Video:

Step 1. Jailbreak your device on iOS 5.1.1

Step 2. Open Cydia and add the repo “apt.tekwik.com”

Step 3. Install the package “S1ri” or “S1ri for iPad” depending on your device. (The packages are no longer supported in any way.  Use PAT Port)

Step 4. Reboot

Step 5. Enable Siri and set up your server settings.  Enjoy!

          It seems that my iPod Touch 4th generation has a dictation button.  My iPhone 4 is still on iOS 5.0.1 but the string to enable dictation has been set to true on the iPhone 4 GSM.  This is odd behavior.

      That is connected to the iFile web server as mentioned in the video.

          In iFile, click on the WiFi icon on the bottom. Then on a web browser on a computer, type in your iDevices IP followed by :10000

            If that doesn’t work, you can use an alternative program to copy the file, such as iExplore.

    got this up and running last night and siri worked great, but this morning siri wouldnt let me make a command, statement, or ask a question. all i got was the low “Dun-nun” which i think is to cancel a question. so in short, why would siri just randomly konk out like that?

      My iPad got the same file. I used k93AP and renamed. Installed succeeded but the iri option on settings is not there :(

    This worked great for me for 24 hours then I’m guessing the verification expired. Have you guys got a solution to this? is there a way around it like using siri every so often to refresh it?

    Have tried many different methods for getting siri on iphone 4 5.1.1 untethered using Absinthe 2.0.4. I’ve tried spite, tried siriport and now this. Siriport i had to restore, spite had to restore and MySiri’s Port for iOS 5.1.1 i get “Hash Sum Mismatch”, which I’ve tried correcting by resetting router, rebooting phone, reinstalling source, etc., it just won’t download. Oh and I tried the other method from tekwik using ifile. I have seen many videos demonstrating these methods using an iPod touch but not an iphone 4. There just doesn’t seem to be a method that really works.

    If there is I haven’t found it.

      This does work.  You just need to keep attempting the install.

    When I download, right at the end of the download it cancels and says Hash Sum Mismatch after approx 25 times, should I just continue to retry the install?

      Absinthe 2 uses Rocky Racoon so yes.

        Thank you for replying. I followed along with the updated simpler version. When I follow along with the video from the link you posted, i’m unable to complete step 2. I get a 404 error, saying “The requested URL /Siri/Siri.deb was not found on this server.” Thanks again for your help.

          Just add the repo ‘apt.tekwik.com’ and install the Siri package.

            Siri is up and running but it won’t acssesories my calendar or contacts. It will also not set an appointment. Saying ” ca not set metapredicates.

      No, install this with Rocky Racoon already installed.

      Absinthe 2 uses Rocky Racoon to untether, so using Absinthe automatically installs Rocky Racoon.

    There seems to be a lot of confusion about the actual instructions and setup on this. 

    I see the steps have been simplified to where you don’t need to mod the plist and install it on your phone.

    Also there are no longer 3 certs to install but only 1

    I hope this is correct but if not then hence the confusion about installing this.

    It says POSIX: Operation timed out POSIX: Operation timed out whenever i go to install S1ri and is in red and only allows me to return to cydia what do i do now. I saw there was another install back where it told me to choose from S1ri or S1ri for iPad there was also a repo thing that you all have that i do not download yet. Should i download that first?     I installed but it made my ipod awfully slow and buggy… and the reboot advice on the youtube clip is in a bad place… reboot should be done after.
    How do you uninstall? Itried deleting the certificate profile and then removing the cydia package but now my ipod is stuck respringing. HELP!

    My Siri won’t take any of my questions, however I followed the updated video and did all of the steps. The only problem is the website only showed one key, and when I installed that, it said it installed but then i refreshed the web page, and was given the option to install it again…. solutions???

    S1ri seems to cause springboard crashes and is not apparently compatible with notification center or lock info on iPad 2,1. Any updates coming out? I think it might have to do with the weather and stocks apps.

      If you installed version 1.1, you can uninstall. Anything previous requires a restore.

    So Everything worked fine and I have Siri…Only she won’t do ANYTHING but talk back. I ask her to send a text, make a call, find locations…NOTHING works she just replies with some sarcastic response or gives me a compliment. Is there a reason why she’s not a functioning assistant?

      What language are you using? Make sure it is English (United States). All others do not have full support.

    My suggestion to anyone wanting Siri on their iPhone, iPod, or iPad is DON’T!! I’ve installed Siri twice and both times it bricked my iPhone 4. The first time it was stuck on a black screen with the backlight still lite, only had to let the battery run out of juice and then charged and it booted up. The second time it got stuck on apple logo screen and I had to restore to get it working again. Good thing I made a backup before I jailbroke my device. Just wait for someone to get all the bugs and glitches out before installing Siri.
