Hey guys you may have heard already, but if you didn’t yesterday was a big day for the Cupertino company and all of its fans. Apple announced the long awaited iPhone 5 that everyone has been waiting for! After months of waiting and rumors Apple finally took the stage with Tim Cook and made the announcement we have been waiting for since last year.

To start off, the iPhone 5 was obviously the biggest part of the conference. Apple enhanced their new phone a few ways. The screen is now 4″ however, its taller not wider so you can still get that in that hand comfort feeling iPhone users love and so it is easy to type with one hand. The screen is also thinner making it the thinnest screen ever on an iPhone. In addition to the screen the actual phone is a bit thinner too measuring in at a depth of 7.6 millimeters (mm).

Something Apple introduced with the iPhone 5 was a two tone color look. The 5 still comes in black and white but the band and back give it a new two-tone feel. The options are now Black and Slate or White and Silver. The new color scheme is very eloquent.

The iPhone 5 is still a world phone, but has a great new addition with 4G LTE. If you don’t know what that is it is basically the next generation of wireless networks to improve speeds and usage for data and so on that companies are now embracing. The 5 now has LTE implemented that into their device unfortunately though there is no NFC technology in it. Also, internally Apple has put in their new A6 chip which is designed to increase speed and usage length. In addition, Apple has also re-thought the way of charging the phone and came up with a much smaller charger that they are calling the Lightning charger. Other than that the iPhone is pretty similar to its precedent model.

The iPhone 5 is set to be released September 21, 2012 with pre-orders starting tomorrow on September 14, 2012 with prices starting at $199 for the 16 GB, $299 for the 32 GB, and $399 for the all new 64 GB model. It will be available on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.

At the event, the iPhone wasn’t the only thing revealed. Apple also announced the new iOS 6 operating system that was debuted at WWDC during the summer. I already had some time to play with that so for a full review of that you can click HERE. iOS 6 will be released as a free upgrade on September 19, 2012.

The main thing that the Cupertino kids revamped besides the iPhone were the iPods. There is now an all new iPod Nano that is bigger than the last one and is a touch screen device. Its completely redone and it has a two tone feel also and looks pretty nice. It has a height of 3.01 inches and width of 1.56 inches. The iPod touch was also revamped. It now comes in multiple colors and is called the iPod Touch loop. It is called that because it is a case like thing that attaches to the back that can be removed which is the part with different colors and it has a small loop handle to hold it by which is where the loop name comes from. The new iPod touch also has a 4 inch screen, improved camera, and both the nano and touch have the new lightning charger.

Finally, Apple has completely revamped their headphones. They have made them more comfortable and made them sound better. They still have the microphone and controls built in so you won’t lose that. Apple put a lot of focus into them.

By Bryan Weissman

That about sums up what happened at Apples event. For more information on the iPhone 5, iPod nano, iPod touch, iOS 6, or anything else Apple related you can go to Apples website or our website and follow us on Twitter and Google + and like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Yup. Google are entering the tablet fight. But, as usual, they’ve come armed and ready… with Asus? Back at CES, Asus announced a Quad Core Tab which WAS going to market for just $249 (£169). Then it was announced that they weren’t going to release it, with no other information. Until now. It doesn’t take a genius to see that it was in fact because Google had nabbed Asus as the manufacturer of the flagship Google tablet. Interestingly enough, it will be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 3 Kai Quad Core processor which they say, umm, does some magic wizardry thing, that lets manufacturers manufacture their device at a considerably lower price than if they used other Quad Core processors. This, I feel, is a fantastic deal that Google have nabbed.

An amazing tablet manufacturer who has already had experience with making sexy looking Quad Core Tablets, an AWESOME operating system, and quite frankly, a processor that is in its league of its own in the tablet world. I was going to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (but then I took an arrow to the knee :p) but then I heard about this, and had a revelation (= I read about Google’s I/O conference on the 27th of June and that fact that there will/probably be a new Quad Core Android Tablet that won’t break the bank. Oh AND it’ll be running Android 4.1, aka Jelly Bean. Gosh. This just keeps on getting better and better. One more thing, it’s going to release THIS Summer! My Birthday is in July… Better start being good (: Please Google don’t screw up :/
There’s a lot of hype surrounding this tablet, but hey ho, it is Google at the end of the day. When do they ever let us down? Oh wait… Tune in here on the 27th – 29th, to live stream the conference.

I’ll update you guys with all the latest from Google I/O and hey who knows, maybe at the end of it, I’ll do an unboxing of the mystery tab.
Keep it cool, keep it tekwik. xD
Peace

As much as I talk/brag about my iPhone, you’d never expect me to write a post like this. School is now out, and I have several posts influenced by what I’ve learned.

Not only is the Blackberry seemingly gaining traction (in Europe mostly) once more, but they are very useful for those of us in Grade school.

Pretty much EVERY teen in America has text messaged or updated a Facebook status during school. Towards the end of the year it was so bad that the Principal of our school called over the intercom system for teachers to just hold phones until the end of class because several parents had seen posts. But why are most new smartphones getting collected? Because of size, shape, color, and settings. What could be the cure? RIM’s Blackberry line. I know, because I carried a defunct one around after getting my iPhone taken up, and I used to write notes in my lap on it.

Reasoning:

1. Every Blackberry on the current market excluding those in the Torch line of products has a physical keyboard. You can text flawlessly once you learn the keyboard. If you started out with a non-smartphone like myself, this advantage is very evident.

2. The newest Blackberry’s are amazingly sleek, timeless, and beautiful. This is more specifically the Blackberry Curve 9350, 9360, and 9370 & the 9900 and 9930, in my opinion at least. The can be compared to the iPhone because they are pretty much non-metallic and sexy in black. Obviously you run less of a risk with dropping these though.

3. The OS is extremely powerful. The Blackberry line was the pioneer of smartphones. I remember seeing the first one in 2007 via a commercial. That means the OS dev team and App store has had more time than pretty much any major handset maker to build.

4. The Blackberry Curve and Bold are the size of your palm. Perfect for texting in class beneath your desk. It is, again, very sexy and still comfortable.

5. Perhaps this goes back to the OS capabilities, but Blackberrys, especially the Bold models, come bundled with all the greatness of Blackberry OS 7.1 which is highly useful. You have BBM and so many other great, and connected features. It’s been years since I last used a Blackberry, but the experience on Facebook & Twitter was great and it can only get better.

These are some of the main factors I’m going to buy a Blackberry for the next school year. I will obviously keep my iPhone for use when I’m on break because it really isn’t a big deal on Verizon to switch phones over the internet. Perhaps this isn’t how Tekwik would like to portray itself, encouraging teens to text in a learning environment, but really, they should appeal to ALL age groups. And shouldn’t
the teen make the right choice? Until next time, farewell…

When you ask “Siri what is the best smartphone of all time” she will use Wolfram Alpha which says that the best smartphone ever is the new Nokia Lumia 900. According to numerous other tech blogs this is only a glitch. When Apple found this out they hardcoded Siri to promote Apple. But Nokia accused Apple of doing that because they wanted Siri to promote their new phone the Lumia 900. Now, when you ask Siri what is the best laptop, computer MP3 player etc she will promote Apple’s devices.

After months and tons of speculation and rumors, Samsung has finally announced its new Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone. We know finally know some of the rumors that were true and which were completely bogus. Even though this post was hard to make, we have came up with the Top 5 best, or most anticipated features of the new phone. Keep in mind this is all opinionated and you may not feel the same way with our list.

1. Quad – Core Processor

The performance of a Quad core processor is just absolutely amazing! If any of you have used a Galaxy S II you already know that the phone was pretty fast. For its successor to be even faster its just unbelievable. The chip will also make 4G speeds faster. Samsung says the chip is already prepared for 3D games and video editing, but will use 20% less than its predecessor.

2. HD 4.8-inch AMOLED Display

The Super AMOLED displays in the past have been truly mind blowing. The colors are usually beautiful and bring the activity on the phone to life. However, its tough to see how it will compare to the new HTC One X, but it is sure to give it a run for its money. We can conclude though that u perhaps may get inker blacks then the HTC.

3. Intelligent Camera with Face Recognition

This is an absolute killer feature. Samsung has made face recognition a way to unlock your phone now instead of the traditional pattern. In addition, the phone now knows when you are using it. If you are reading an article or browsing the web it knows based on your face in front of the phone that you are using it and will not power down. It will keep your phone activated. Samsung calls this its new “Natural Interaction” technology and we can not wait to test it out.

4. S Voice

Personally I am not a huge fan of S voice, but it still is a pretty cool feature even if it is a rip off of Apple’s Siri. It does basically the same thing as Siri. It can control music, audio, send a text, and Samsung gave the example of using it to turn off your alarm by saying “snooze”.

5. 4G LTE

4G LTE is not exactly one of the more premium features, but you can’t but help to put it in the list because everything that involves 4G is always so hyped up. On the Galaxy S III though we have a feeling that 4G LTE will be stellar mainly from the quad-core processor. It is unsure what the U.S. carriers will do about the processor and if AT&T will opt out like they did with the HTC One X’s Tegra 3 chip. However, regardless blazing fast data speeds seem to be in store for consumers.

Unfortunately we could not fit all of the great features the Galaxy S III brings to the table, but this is quite the phone to beat. Samsung did a good job. For more news on the Galaxy S III and other tech news follow us on tekwik.com, subscribe to our YouTube Channel HERE, and like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter.

So what do you guys think of the new features? Did we miss any Top 5 features? Do you guys think something else should be on the list? Let us know in the comments and on Facebook and Twitter.

Whats up guys? So I know its been a very long time since I have done an article, but I took some time off to work on other projects I had. No need to worry though because I am making my return now!

On April 27, 2012 AT&T announced that later this year they will launch their LTE network in Salt Lake City, Utah. For customers living in Salt Lake CIty that have recently bought an LTE device that has been suffering from “LTE Depression” will no longer suffer from slower data speeds. It is a good thing to see AT&T expanding their brand new LTE network to new cities. However, it is not certain when exactly the LTE network will become accessible to Salt Lake City. Until we get a more concrete date stay tuned for more tech info, news, and more.

The good part of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is that it has the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, with Verizon’s blazing fast LTE network. It’s screen and performance are the best. The overall look: AMAZING!!!

The bad part of the Galaxy Nexus is that it lacks a slot for expandable memory for pictures, videos, and apps. Also, it’s 5 megapixel camera isn’t the best. Finally, some of the new Ice Cream Sandwich features are hard to learn.

If you want to switch to another carrier on your iPhone but don’t want to jailbreak for an unlock there’s great news. Starting April 8th AT&T will begin to offer their customers the ability to unlock their phones. Requirements is for your account to be in good standing and you not being in a 2-year contract (with the iPhone you want to unlock) or pay an early termination fee. This is a great move by AT&T and may help prevent the amount of jailbreaking to unlock devices and the hassle it could be for some people.

It was just about a month and a half ago since the iPhone 4S was released. Consumers weren’t extremely happy with it because it lacked specific things, but its sales still blew up. One of the things the iPhone lacked was 4G LTE. Even though the 4S didn’t have LTE the next generation iPhone will. Here is why:

4G LTE is a growing trend in the ever continuing growing mobile phone market. Today, LTE is in more and more phones, especially smartphones. Apple opted not to go with LTE on their latest iPhone. Even though they were expected to release a 4G phone, Apple just didn’t feel any need to do it. Now the pressure is on for Apple to add LTE.

If Apple elects to release another 3G only iPhone, then they are going to suffer. People are going to find this as a huge turnoff. This will be for a few reasons. The first being that the phone will be outdated. People won’t want to spend their hard earned cash on outdated slower phone when the newer, thinner design, faster 4G Android is sitting waiting for them at their local AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint store. Apple is smarter though than to outdate their own device.

The other reason is competition. Android and Windows Phone OS are quickly growing and gaining market share on Apple. In fact, at one point I believe Android passed Apple with 52% of the market share in the mobile phone industry. Android though is already enough of a threat on its own, Windows Phone on the other hand is the underdog here. Many people doubted its ability from the start (including myself) , but after demoing it it’s much better than I thought. Today they are in an even better spot to threat Apple with its growing fan base. Going back to the first reason, if Apple outdates their phone this gives their competitors a great chance to damage Apple’s profits.

People who leave from Apple would help Android, Windows, and even RIM and Blackberry to get back in the race for the leading smartphones. The Big A already took a plunge financially from the 4S launch first, but lucky for them the demand was higher than they thought and fans stayed loyal. Next time I don’t think The Big A will be so lucky. Apple I’m sure is smart enough to prevent this from happening which is why LTE will be in the next iPhone if Apple wants to continue to be dominant.

Let me know what your view is on the matter! Leave comments below or on Facebook or tweet us on twitter at @wwcrnews!

I don’t know about any of you but this is pretty funny to me. To come up with names of phones can be pretty tough, I mean look at the Motorola Atrix, HTC Sensation, and LG Thrill. How is a mobile phone sensational or thrilling and just what is an Atrix? These are questions we can not answer, but is the HTC Vivid being disputed by a Porn Company? We can answer this and it is a big YES!

As a company you never want to affect a company’s trademarked name, but thats how this issue arose. Vivid Entertainment is an adult porn company and they have recently sent a cease and desist letter to HTC about their newest phone the HTC Vivid for AT&T.

According to TMZ (Yes the site that is gossip dedicated) the entertainment company sent a letter to HTC that they stop using the name “Vivid” as it could become confusing in the marketplace between the two completely different companies. I do not think it would be fun for anyone to be talking about their phone and someone takes it the other way and thinks they are using a porn site, especially if your talking to your boss….. just saying.

Reportedly the phone company has been given until Monday to act on the matter before Vivid Entertainment takes this to court. The Verge has confirmed that HTC received the letter and has issued this statement for the time being.

We are reviewing the complaint and don’t expect to have any further comment until it is resolved.

The entertainment company has announced that they are working on a channel for Google TV, so this does show why there could be confusion and that the company may have future plans to work with Android handsets down the road. Until that time though it is hard to see how “HTC Vivid” can lead to “Oh, there is a porn company involved with this”.

With all the iOS and Android news out there, Blackberry and RIM has almost been forgotten. Until today that is. Today RIM and Porsche announced their brand new Blackberry P’9981 model.

First spotted in September, was a mysterious RIM device that was unlike any other that has ever been seen before. A few days later technobuffalo.com put together the pieces that Porsche designed this odd device based on the letters on the device. However, once the invitations for RIM’s and Porsche’s event in Dubai for this week came out we knew this was true. This new device was first referred to as the Blackberry Bold R47 and the Blackberry Knight.

Specs of the device include a 1.2 GHz processor and the Blackberry 7 OS preinstalled. It is expected to hit the shelves of stores by the end of this year for……..wait for it…….$2,000. Thats a bit pricey, but on the bright side you will get an exclusive PIN number starting with “2AA” so people will know how awesome you are.

Product Video shown at the announcement:
