Hey guys you may have heard already, but if you didn’t yesterday was a big day for the Cupertino company and all of its fans. Apple announced the long awaited iPhone 5 that everyone has been waiting for! After months of waiting and rumors Apple finally took the stage with Tim Cook and made the announcement we have been waiting for since last year.

To start off, the iPhone 5 was obviously the biggest part of the conference. Apple enhanced their new phone a few ways. The screen is now 4″ however, its taller not wider so you can still get that in that hand comfort feeling iPhone users love and so it is easy to type with one hand. The screen is also thinner making it the thinnest screen ever on an iPhone. In addition to the screen the actual phone is a bit thinner too measuring in at a depth of 7.6 millimeters (mm).

Something Apple introduced with the iPhone 5 was a two tone color look. The 5 still comes in black and white but the band and back give it a new two-tone feel. The options are now Black and Slate or White and Silver. The new color scheme is very eloquent.

The iPhone 5 is still a world phone, but has a great new addition with 4G LTE. If  you don’t know what that is it is basically the next generation of wireless networks to improve speeds and usage for data and so on that companies are now embracing. The 5 now has LTE implemented that into their device unfortunately though there is no NFC technology in it. Also, internally Apple has put in their new A6 chip which is designed to increase speed and usage length. In addition, Apple has also re-thought the way of charging the phone and came up with a much smaller charger that they are calling the Lightning charger. Other than that the iPhone is pretty similar to its precedent model.

The iPhone 5 is set to be released September 21, 2012 with pre-orders starting tomorrow on September 14, 2012 with prices starting at $199 for the 16 GB, $299 for the 32 GB, and $399 for the all new 64 GB model. It will be available on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.

At the event, the iPhone wasn’t the only thing revealed. Apple also announced the new iOS 6 operating system that was debuted at WWDC during the summer. I already had some time to play with that so for a full review of that you can click HERE. iOS 6 will be released as a free upgrade on September 19, 2012.

The main thing that the Cupertino kids revamped besides the iPhone were the iPods. There is now an all new iPod Nano that is bigger than the last one and is a touch screen device. Its completely redone and it has a two tone feel also and looks pretty nice. It has a height of 3.01 inches and width of 1.56 inches. The iPod touch was also revamped. It now comes in multiple colors and is called the iPod Touch loop. It is called that because it is a case like thing that attaches to the back that can be removed which is the part with different colors and it has a small loop handle to hold it by which is where the loop name comes from. The new iPod touch also has a 4 inch screen, improved camera, and both the nano and touch have the new lightning charger.

Finally, Apple has completely revamped their headphones. They have made them more comfortable and made them sound better. They still have the microphone and controls built in so you won’t lose that. Apple put a lot of focus into them.
