Just about 16 months ago HP bought Palm for the Palm Pre line-up of phones, and the Touchpad just went on sale July 1st so this decision is interesting. HP just announced that it is going to “discontinue operations for WebOS devices”. What this means for the slow selling inventory of new Palm-Pre 3 phones and the Touchpads we do not know.

However, we have heard the company plans to “continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward”. WebOS is not completely gone, but it looks as though it is heading that direction unfortunately. From a consumers point of view this does not exactly seem like a great future moving forward for HP and WebOS.

In addition, an earlier report claimed that the company is looking for “strategic alternatives for its Personal Systems Group”. This means that HP is planning on moving out of the shadows in the Hardware game and looking to be more involved and focused in the Software department.

How do you guys feel about the discontinuing of WebOS devices? What about the Palm Pre phones and HP Touchpad? Were they any good or is getting rid of them a good move? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ !!!
