The future of the Macs seem to be in very good hands as OS X Lion was released yesterday and is already at an exhilarating start. Lion was released at around 9:00 on the morning of July 20, 2011 and by the end of day one it was downloaded and purchased 1 million times along with tremendous customer feedback! In just day one, over 6,000 people rated Lion and over 90% gave OS X Lion a perfect 5 out of 5 rating.
Lion is off to a great start, user reviews and industry reaction have been fantastic,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. Lion is a huge step forward, it’s not only packed with innovative features but it’s incredibly easy for users to update their Macs to the best OS we’ve ever made.
According to Apple, consumers have been buying Lion faster than any other OS in the world. This does not only prove that the Mac App Store makes purchasing, downloading, and distributing much of an asset, but also how vital the $29.99 price point for Lion is. This $29.99 price point is the same as Snow Leopard’s which included mainly under the hood improvements. Lion however, has over 250 new features added into it including Mission Control, Launchpad, Versions, Resume, All-New Mail, New Multi-Touch Gestures, Full Screen Apps, and much more!
For many of us Lion has been very good and proved its self worthy. Even here at WW Computer Repair we have obtained Lion and it is by far one of the best, if not the best, OS we have ever worked with. For review purposes, Apple has not specifically said how many people bough Mac OS X Snow Leopard so we can not compare Snow Leopard with Lion, but how is this for facts. When OS X Leopard was released it sold 2 million copies in its debut weekend. Leopard was strictly sold on disks at the online store, Apple Store, Authorized Retail Stores, and through Pre-Orders! Earlier today (July 21, 2011) a press release came from the Cupertino based company stating how well Lion is doing and the entire statement can be found below:
